Bronze for Boswell
Kerikeri lad Dane Boswell is bringing home gold from the world senior rowing championships in Eaton England.
Dane is a member of the men's coxed four, one of eight NZ teams which participated at the event.
Dane plus team mates Paul Gerritsen, James Dallinger, Steve Cottle, Daniel Quigley (cox) won bronze on the final day of competition.
While not as successful as last year in terms of gold medals, when four were won, the team has won six medals including a gold, two silver and three bronze.
The men's coxed four of Dane Boswell, Paul Gerritsen, Steve Cottle, James Dallinger and cox Dan Quigley won a bronze medal on the final day of competition.
The coxed four is a non-Olympic event being used by New Zealand to develop depth in its ranks.
The United States won the women's eights while Germany won the men's eights.
In July this year Dane was a member of the NZ Under-23 coxed fours which took a world title in Belgium.  The team beat the pace-setting Australians. The Bay Chronicle

World title for Trish, bronze for Anthony
It was gold for Trish Muldrock  and bronze for Anthony Warren at the recent world Masters Benchpress Champs in Miami Florida.
The two ASB Gymfit athletes were in Miami for ten days.
Trish weighed in at 47.2 kgs, Anthony at 105kgs.
First up was Trish with a magical lift of 771/2 kgs. She  followed this winner with a world record attempt at 821/2kgs, missing it by one white light,  but she will have another go at it at the Nationals in September.
A modest Anthony says his lift was not as good as it should have been: "But hey that's what competition's all about and Number 3 in the world's not bad eh?"
Fellow Northland lifter  Karen Foggarty  also achieved gold  and her husband Brian gained a respectable 4th.
The NZ team of eight lifters all finished in the top ten, with 2 golds, 1-bronze, 2-4ths. 1-5th, 1-6th, and 1-8th
Considering they were up against the world's giants in powerlifting (USA, Poland, Russia, Germany, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, France - 30 countries in all) it was a  remarkable achievement.

Bay sailors named in Olympic squad
Yachting New Zealand announced its nine member Olympic Sailing Squad  this week. The squad, sailing in six classes, will work towards selection and then medal contention in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Andrew Murdoch (Laser) and Sharon Ferris are both from Kerikeri. Sharon's Yngling crew are Raynor Smeal and Ashley Holtum.
Others named in the Olympic squad are Barbara Kendall, Jo Aleh, Dan Slater, Aaron McIntosh and Bruce Kendal.
Yachting New Zealand policy for selection into the squad is primarily based on competition performance.
Andrew Murdoch, Sharon Ferris and her crew, Dan Slater and Aaron McIntosh have all recorded World Championship results. Two medals in 2005 went to Murdoch, winning bronze in the Laser World Champs, and to Ferris and the Yngling team, winning silver at the Worlds.
The Team Inspiration crew have been sailing together since April this year. Ferris has raised them to a very high level in a short space of time.  They share the 'Northland Sailor of the Year' trophy,  presented at a ceremony in Whangarei this week.
American-born Ashley Holtrum  is a Russell resident and had not sailed before teaming up with her two crewmates earlier this year. The Bay Chronicle
